Hole 18

Puigmal

(PAR 4)

Accuracy on the first shot is best played with a long iron or 3 wood. The second shot is long and accurate, especially if the flag is to the left on the top green.

Set of tees:

1 — 392 m.
2 — 375 m.
3 — 328 m.
4 — 305 m.
5 — 265 m.

It is a fantastic hole. All the possible elements play against you: the lake to the left of the tee, the stream to the right, sometimes strong gusts of wind, its long distance to reach the green in regulation, its defence with three difficult bunkers, and an imposing piano with different slopes that make it difficult to predict the trajectory of the ball towards the hole on the green. A real challenge for any handicap. You’d be shocked at the amount of tournaments that are won and lost here!

Even after the remodelling carried out a few years ago, this hole still seems to me to be one of the most difficult I have ever played. You no longer have to fight with the ditch that used to cross the hole at the drop of the drive, but getting to the 2nd green is still an odyssey.
